People aren’t paying as much attention to you as you think.
We convince ourselves that everyone is watching. That they’re analyzing what we’re wearing, what we said, how we looked, how we showed up. But the truth? Most people are too busy thinking about themselves.
There was a study done with college students that proves this. A group of students were asked to wear goofy T-shirts to a party. Afterward, they were asked how it felt and how many people they thought noticed. Most of them said they felt self-conscious and believed everyone was looking at them. But when other students at the party were asked if they noticed those shirts or even noticed those students at all most of them said they didn’t. Some didn’t even realize those students had attended the party.
Isn’t that wild?
So why do we care so much about what people think? The truth is, they’re not thinking about you nearly as much as you imagine. They’re thinking about themselves. Their own outfits. Their own insecurities. Their own lives.
So letting imagined opinions hold you back? That’s wild. Do what you want. Start the thing. Wear the outfit. Post the video. Go to the event. Speak up.
Because no one is watching you as closely as you think.
And the ones who matter? They’re not judging they’re living too.
